Board Members

The Board consists of seven members, five of whom are appointed by the Shelby County Commissioners and two of whom are appointed by the probate judge. Three individuals must be eligible for services provided through the county board or are immediate family members of such individuals.  Whenever possible the appointing authorities will ensure that appointments represent a person eligile for adult services, a person eligile for services for children, and a person eligile for residential supports.

The Board meets the third Monday of the month at 12:00 P.M. in the Board Administration Conference Room.

Dan Bensman
President

Mr. Bensman is an attorney and partner with the law firm of Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister & Shenk. He is a member of the Ohio State and Shelby County Bar Associations and currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Shelby County United Way, the Community Foundation of Shelby County, the Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the Anna Local Schools Education Foundation. He has served on many community organizations including serving as the President of the S & H Products Board, President of the Shelby County Habitat for Humanity, and President of the Village of Anna Endowment Fund. Mr. Bensman resides in Anna with his wife, Lori, and their three children, Carter, Avery, and Claire.

 


 

Nate Counts
Vice President

Nate Counts is an Assistant Vice President with Unity National Bank specializing in commercial lending.  He has a B.A. in Economics from Marietta College and is also a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program in both Piqua and Troy.  Mr. Counts has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry.  He currently serves on the board of Health Partners Free Clinic.  Mr. Counts resides in McCartyville his three children, Abby, Allie, and Sam.


 

Kelly Albers
Secretary

Kelly Albers is a Financial Analyst at Emerson Climate Technologies in Sidney, Ohio.  She is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie.  She resides near Ft. Loramie with their three children, Dylan, Grant, and Jessica.

Lisa Benanzer

Lisa Benanzer is the Member Service Manager at Pioneer Electric Cooperative in Piqua, Ohio.  She has a B.S. in Financial Services from Wright State University and is also a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadersip Programs in Piqua and Sidney.  She is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie and volunteers with the children's liturgy and childcare programs; she completed the program Ministry of Moms Sharing (M.O.M.S.) and served as a CCD instructor. Lisa is currently a member of Sidney Rotary, serves on the Board of Directors, and is a member of the Rotary Charitable Fund Committee. She is current President of the Fort Loramie Education Foundation and is involved with fundraisers for the Football Committee.  In the past, she served on the Board of Directors for the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development, Sidney/Shelby County Chamber of Commerce, and was chairperson for the chamber Nominating Committee; co-chaired the Continue Excellence levy campaign for Ft. Loramie Schools, volunteered with the United Way Campaigns in Miami and Shelby counties; served on the Ft. Loramie Liberty Days Committee; and was a member of Women in Networking.  Lisa and her husband Bill, reside in Ft. Loramie with their three children Troy, Hillary, and Drew. She enjoys walking, reading, and her childrens' activities.

  

Jennifer Crim

Jennifer Crim is a pharmicist at The Medicinne Shoppe pharmacies in Sidney and Piqua.  Mrs. Crim is a graduate of Houston High School and Ohio Northern University.  She is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She serves on the Hardin-Houston Ball Association board and is a past volunteer of the Houston Athletic Complex Committee.  She and her husband Brian reside in Houston with their four children Cole, Ella, Luke, and Lauryn.

John Coffield

John Coffield is a Vice President for Chase Paymentech, the payment processing division of JPMorgan Chase.  He has a 36-year career in the banking industry and previously served as the Card Services Manager for Bank One Sidney.  He worked for Bank One/Chase at various positions in Columbus for 17 years, returning to Sidney in 2009.  He has completed the required course requirements from the Ohio School of Banking and the National School of Bank Card Management.  He is a graduate of Lehman High School and has a Bachelor of Science in Business with an Accounting Major from Miami University. Mr. Coffields currently the President of the Kiwanis Club of Sidney and previously served as secretary.  He has also served as president and treasurer of the Shelby County Association for Retarded Citizens.  He is a volunteer for the annual community Christmas dinner in Sidney.  Mr. Coffield is single and resides in Sidney.  He has two brothers who work at S&H Products.

 

Karen Ballas

Karen Ballas is a stay-at-home mom.  She is a graduate of Anna High School and has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Wright State University.  She is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine.  She resides in Ft. Loramie with her husband Mike and their five children.  They are members of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie.
