Board Members

The Board consists of seven members, five of whom are appointed by the Shelby County Commissioners and two of whom are appointed by the probate judge. Three individuals must be eligible for services provided through the county board or are immediate family members of such individuals.  Whenever possible the appointing authorities will ensure that appointments represent a person eligile for adult services, a person eligile for services for children, and a person eligile for residential supports.

The Board meets the third Monday of the month at 12:00 P.M. in the Board Administration Conference Room.

Nate Counts 
President

Nate Counts is Vice President with Unity National Bank specializing in commercial lending.  He has a B.A. in Economics from Marietta College and is also a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program in both Piqua and Troy.  Mr. Counts has over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry.  He currently serves on the board of Health Partners Free Clinic.  Mr. Counts resides in McCartyville his three children, Abby, Allie, and Sam.

 


 

Lisa Benanzer
Vice President

Lisa Benanzer is the Member Service Manager at Pioneer Electric Cooperative in Piqua, Ohio.  She has a B.S. in Financial Services from Wright State University and is also a graduate of the Chamber of Commerce Leadersip Programs in Piqua and Sidney.  She is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie and volunteered with the children's liturgy and childcare programs; she completed the program Ministry of Moms Sharing (M.O.M.S.) and served as a CCD instructor. Lisa is currently a member of Sidney Rotary having served as President, is an Ambassador for the Shelby County United Way, and Secretary for the Redskin Memorial Park Committee.  In the past she served as President of the Fort Loramie Education Foundation; on the Board of Directors for the Rehabilitation Center for Neurological Development and Shelby County Chamber of Commerce; co-chaired the Continue Excellence levy campaign for Fort Loramie Local Schools and Football Committee fundraisers; volunteered with the Miami County United Way; and served on the Fort Loramie Lberty Days Committee.  Lisa and her husband Bill, reside in Ft. Loramie with their three children Troy, Hillary, and Drew. 


 

Kelly Albers
Secretary

Kelly Albers is a Financial Analyst at Emerson Climate Technologies in Sidney, Ohio.  She is a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie.  She resides near Ft. Loramie with their three children, Dylan, Grant, and Jessica.

Dan Bensman

Mr. Bensman is an attorney and partner with the law firm of Faulkner, Garmhausen, Keister & Shenk. He is a member of the Ohio State and Shelby County Bar Associations and currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees of the Shelby County United Way, the Community Foundation of Shelby County, the Wilson Memorial Hospital Foundation, and the Anna Local Schools Education Foundation. He has served on many community organizations including serving as the President of the S & H Products Board, President of the Shelby County Habitat for Humanity, and President of the Village of Anna Endowment Fund. Mr. Bensman resides in Anna with his wife, Lori, and their three children, Carter, Avery, and Claire.

Jennifer Crim

Jennifer Crim is a pharmicist at The Medicinne Shoppe pharmacies in Sidney and Piqua.  Mrs. Crim is a graduate of Houston High School and Ohio Northern University.  She is a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.  She serves on the Hardin-Houston Ball Association board and is a past volunteer of the Houston Athletic Complex Committee.  She and her husband Brian reside in Houston with their four children Cole, Ella, Luke, and Lauryn.

Tiffany Kemp

Tiffany Kemp is the Executive Director of Shelby County Victim Services.  Tiffany has been with Victim Services for over seven years.  She is a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where in the past was the Deacon of Education for several years.  Tiffany is currently a member of the Tri-County Response Team and of the Human Trafficking Coalition.  She currently chairs the Sexual Assault Response Team of Shelby County and has served on the Houston Community Classic Committee.  Tiffany is a part of the Adam Kemp Memorial Scholarship Committee and has co-hosted the Adam Kemp Memorial Cruise-In.  She is also the Jr. High Cheerleading Coach for Houston Schools.  Tiffany has a sister that attends S&H Products.  She resides in Houston with her three children Alyssa, Brianna, and Emma.

 

Karen Ballas

Karen Ballas is a stay-at-home mom.  She is a graduate of Anna High School and has a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Wright State University.  She is a graduate of The Ohio State University College of Medicine.  She resides in Ft. Loramie with her husband Mike and their five children. They are members of St. Michael Catholic Church in Ft. Loramie.
