Preschool

Laura

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Welcome, or Welcome back!! Pam and I are ready to begin a new year!! I cannot believe how quickly the summer goes. It takes some time to readjust to the school routine. For those that I have not met, my name is Laura Wintrow, I will be your child’s preschool teacher for this school year. Pam Wilson is the paraprofessional in our classroom. Pam and I are looking forward to an exciting, productive year working with you and your child.

We believe parent involvement plays an important part in a child’s education. We firmly believe that the best education requires the student, the teachers, and the parents working together as a team to achieve the desired goals. We will be using communication folders this year; these will be sent out as soon as possible.   We will continue to write as often as possible to let you know what special activities are coming up. Please feel free to write in the book and do not worry about taking up space. This notebook is the best place to write to us, as we make sure to check it daily (any other papers, notes, etc. may also be put into the pocket in the back of the notebook). If you would rather talk to me about any questions or concerns, I am usually at school before 8:30 a.m., and I am available from 11:35- 12:20, and anytime after 3:00 p.m. Please feel free to call!

We always appreciate your donation of snack items. As the school year continues, we will let you know when we need snacks. Whatever your child enjoys is fine with us. We use the snack time to encourage communication, making choices, motor development, and encouraging independent behavior as well as social skills, so we do appreciate your contributions. Also, if you have other ways or ideas of ways that you would like to become involved in the classroom, let us know. You are always welcome to come into the classroom to play, observe, or to volunteer your time.

Last thing- as soon as schedules are firmed up, we will put a copy of the schedule in the back of the communication notebook. We would encourage you to dress your child in play clothes because we spend time getting messy sometimes. We also go outside to play if weather permits, so please send a jacket if the weather is chilly. With the breeze on our hill, the kids sometimes need a little extra something. On days that your child has gym, we request that your child wear gym shoes.

We are looking forward to getting to know you and your child!! Again, please contact us about anything.

                                                                           Thanks,    Laura and Pam
